Great ways to build a mailing list
You don’t have a mailing list to make money on the internet but it sure makes it easier to do so. Its not difficult to build a mailing list starting with an opt in form and an autoresponder like Aweber. What a list does for you is that you always have people you can introduce new products you like to as well as a ready made group who have stuck around to listen and like what you say.
The bigger the list the more money you can make from your list but it also depends on if these people are in the mood for buying or they are just looking for free information that you can provide. To me I don’t mind either group as the buyers value my recommendations and I get satisfaction from helping the browsers find what they need as well. At some stage they may also become buyers. At the same time I am building my name as someone who is knowledgeable and also working towards becoming a super affiliate.
To build a mailing list list you need to get people to your website or blog or wherever your opt in form is.
Here are a 5 ways to do this.
- Give them something for free. Giveaway sites are good for this as well as an opt in form on your blog. I love ebooks myself but you could make a video or do a podcast or even make a mind map to a solution your readers might have.
- Post on your blog often. This I am guilty of not doing as much as I would like but you will see a difference in the amount of traffic if you do post more often.
- Build a Squidoo Lens around a great solution to a problem your niche might have and point that lens back to your blog.
- Take part in forums related to your niche. You can add a link back to your website or blog in your signature.
- Guest blogging on related sites to yours. You can find associated blogs on the forums or discussion boards.
I could suggest you do PPC advertising but you really have to know what you are doing otherwise you could get burnt. Ad swaps are also OK occasionally but in my opinion unless you know the person you are swapping with then don’t do it.
I didn’t mention Twitter or Facebook and of course you should be posting there and linking back to your posts. Social media is a very powerful tool just now.
